Newfoundland and Labrador Hosts Summer Meeting of Canada’s Premiers in St. John’s
July 13, 2015 – Canada’s Premiers will meet at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland in St. John’s from July 15-17.
“I look forward to welcoming my fellow Premiers to Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Premier Paul Davis, who assumes the Chair of the Council of the Federation at the summer meeting. “I am confident that we will make real progress on issues that are important to Canadians.”
On July 16, Premiers will focus on the economy. Discussions will centre on innovation, trade, skills and training, and how to build a more competitive Canadian economy.
On July 17, Premiers will discuss climate change, health care, and other priority issues. A closing news conference is planned for the afternoon of July 17.
The Council of the Federation comprises all 13 provincial and territorial Premiers. It enables Premiers to work collaboratively, form closer ties, foster constructive relationships between governments, and show leadership on important issues that matter to Canadians.
