Report on Cannabis Legalization and Regulation

At their 2017 Summer Meeting, Canada’s Premiers established the Provincial-Territorial Working Group on Cannabis Legalization and Regulation, and tasked their responsible ministers to identify and report on common considerations and best practices for cannabis legalization, guided by the objectives of reducing harm, protecting public safety, and reducing illicit activity.
The report presents:
- current provincial and territorial activities in preparation for cannabis legalization, including areas with potential for collaboration; and
- areas of common concern where further engagement with the federal government is required, and where federal funding and/or other support may be necessary.
