Premiers Head to Washington, D.C. as part of Council of the Federation Mission

Mission February 9, 2010 – The Council of the Federation will conduct a Premiers’ mission to
Washington, D.C. on February 19-20, 2010.

Saskatchewan, Ontario, Québec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Alberta and Newfoundland & Labrador will be represented in the mission.

The mission will focus on trade and border issues, as well as on energy and the environment.

The centrepiece of the mission will be a joint meeting between Premiers and Governors on February 20 as part of the National Governors Association Winter Meeting. This will be the first-ever meeting of the National Governors Association and its counterpart organization in Canada, the Council of the Federation.

Premiers will also meet with members of the Obama Administration, as well as representatives of leading think tanks.

Media representatives are invited to cover the mission and can attend all open events including plenary sessions, photo ops, news conferences, etc. Media are responsible for their own individual costs, including travel, accommodation, meals, etc. Interested media should contact the Council of the Federation Secretariat as noted below.
